EUCODIS Bioscience is an expert in the development and production of enzymes for industrial applications. We offer customized service solutions for the identification of enzymes suitable for your applications, development of efficient production processes for recombinant proteins and enzymes and finally production under ISO9001:2015. Production under GMP or in food-grade quality is offered with competent partners in our network. Customers can rely on EUCODIS Bioscience in all aspects of enzyme and bioprocess development.
Our team is specialized in developing tailored, high yield manufacturing processes that are designed to be scalable according to customers' demand – from the milligram scale for research purposes up to the multi-kilogram scale for routine industrial use.
Custom applications often require distinct enzyme solutions for efficient bioconversion reactions. EUCODIS Bioscience offers to screen and identify novel enzymes for your target reaction e.g. in a feasibility study based on a selection of candidate enzymes from own enzyme collections and through database screening. For this purpose, suitable screening assays will be established, following Frances H. Arnold’s “first law of random mutagenesis: You get what you screen for” (Acc. Chem. Res. (1998), volume 31, page 125 131.)
Therefore EUCODIS Bioscience will first set up selective high throughput screening assays for custom substrates and reactions. Potential microorganisms, enzyme candidates or enzyme libraries will then be expressed, isolated and tested using the established screening assays. The desired enzyme parameters like activity, selectivity or reaction kinetics can then be confirmed using HPLC-MS or GC-MS analytics for lead enzyme candidates.
PROTEIN ENGINEERING FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE
Using our proprietary in vivo recombination technology, gene shuffling and other state-of-the-art mutagenesis technologies, we engineer proteins and enzymes to perform to our customers‘ individual specifications in their respective industrial applications.

Quality and performance of our enzymes are key success factors for EUCODIS Bioscience and our customers. Therefore all enzymes and proteins we produce are analyzed in-depth and are fully characterized under process-relevant conditions. The analytical methods are performed under our ISO9001 quality management system and involve:
EUCODIS Bioscience provides individual support during every step of product development – from discovery stage to product candidate selection to final product formulation.
Microbial fermentation is not only performed for the production of proteins and enzymes, but also for the production of small molecules by microbial cells. EUCODIS Bioscience offers to establish such fermentation processes for your specific protein, enzyme or small molecule in close contact to your own development and production team. We also offer to scale up and run your fermentation processes in our facilities to produce your molecule of interest.
Stringent process controls under ISO 9001 are in place to ensure that recombinant proteins and enzymes are manufactured in reproducible manner and in highest quality.

Biocatalytic conversions involve isolated enzymes or whole cell biocatalysts to transform a substrate molecule into the desired product, while biofermentations use living cells (“cell factories”) to convert or produce the desired target molecules.
EUCODIS Bioscience also offers screening kits for your own biocatalysis application tests.
EUCODIS Bioscience works closely with its customers to deliver tailored biocatalytic solutions. We will assist you in choosing the optimal final formulation for your enzyme or protein according to specific process requirements.
Depending on the different applications in pharma, cosmetics, fine chemistry, textile chemistry or food and feed, we will develop customized solutions for liquid, dry or immobilized enzyme formulations with process- and application compatible buffers and additives for maximum activity and stability.
Immobilized biocatalysts are developed e.g. using hydrophobic resins for adsorption of the respective enzyme or using chemically activated resins for covalent immobilization. Absorbed enzymes are later often applied in reactions using organic solvents, while a covalent immobilization will prevent increased leaching of the enzyme in aqueous environments. A close collaboration with Resindion, a Mitsubishi Chemicals company, allows EUCODIS Bioscience access to novel resin formulations and large-scale capacities for immobilization in ton-scale fulfilling all industrial quality requirements.
